30 years in the ER, and here's what I want you to know

Welcome. You're In.

My name is Charles. I am a registered nurse with 30 years of emergency room experience at Emory Healthcare. I have 30 million views across social media, and I do not say that to impress you. I say it because of what it tells me about the gap that exists.

Thirty million views means thirty million people who wanted to understand what the healthcare system is doing behind those doors. What actually happens when someone goes to the ER. What the clinical reality is, in the vocabulary families actually use.

That information should not require 30 million views to reach people. It should have been in front of you already.

I posted a video about THC and vaping. In the comment thread, 8 different people said the same thing. Eight strangers, 8 families, the same sentence: "I lost someone and I had no idea what to do."

That is what I am here to close. Not after. Before. The information families need before they need it.

What to expect from me each week:
  • Clinical truth from the emergency room, in plain language
  • What families can actually do in the minutes before help arrives
  • The substance, safety, and preparedness information that the healthcare system assumes you already have
  • No wellness content, no politics, no fluff

Your first step, if you have not done it already: get the free Overdose Response Guide. It covers the three signs, what to do in the first four minutes, Narcan basics, and how to stay on with 911. It is the information I wish every family had before they ended up in my ER.

Welcome. You are in the right place.
